On November 20, Janssen Pharmaceutica of Johnson & Johnson won the Best Achievement Award for Continuous Supply Chain Optimization handed out by PICS and VIB.
The winning Global Planning Concept Design (GPCD) project was initiated in 2012 to harmonize the Janssen supply chain processes. Having shown great results, the Janssen Supply Chain Global Planning team has continued on its journey and begun the implementation of a fully automated and integrated E2E planning system across all its 18 production sites around the world. The project, called ‘Olympus’, went live on October 1 this year.
The implementation delivered very strong results over the course of the last five years. The service level has increased from 95,1% to 99,4%, and inventory savings have risen to $1BN, bringing the Days of Supply from 323 to 246.
Due to this overwhelming success, the approach has been expanded to the Medical Devices and Consumer segments of Johnson & Johnson, and OMP was selected as the preferred planning software.
