OMP has implemented Unison Planning™ as the new advanced planning system (APS) at AstraZeneca. This strategic move is part of the global biopharmaceutical company’s commitment to transforming its supply chain into a world-class, synchronized, and optimized end-to-end intelligent system.
The implementation of OMP’s Unison Planning enables AstraZeneca to prioritize patient centricity and facilitate agility and responsiveness to deliver product supply globally. This successful deployment empowers the company’s supply network planning and manufacturing scheduling processes by integrating and harmonizing data across SAP systems. This results in AstraZeneca’s ability to deliver medicines globally with speed, scale and efficiency.
The project was initiated in 2021, with significant scaling in the following years, starting with the digital standardization of processes and data. Now, as an exciting first milestone, AstraZeneca has completed a digital supply network planning pilot that ‘went live’ centered around its strategic production site in North America in 2023. There, OMP’s solution synchronizes packaging and distribution plans and ensures optimized supply of medicines to markets worldwide.
Jasper Wouters, OMP’s Global Industry Lead for Life Sciences, says: “It is great to see how our life sciences solution and expertise are creating value for a world-class organization like AstraZeneca. This first go-live is a great achievement in our ambitious long-term partnership. It also serves as proof of AstraZeneca's digital transformation journey with a clear focus on enhancing the quality, speed, and efficiency of delivery to its patients.”
