On November 14, thought leaders from the consumer goods industry gathered in Amsterdam for a dynamic session focused on boosting performance, adoption, and explainability in demand-driven supply chains with AI support.
This council event is an integral part of the OMP Community’s activities and provides a platform for our customers to network, influence new product development, and gain fresh insights.
While we can't reveal all the details discussed, we are excited to share some key insights that could benefit our wider community. Here are some key takeaways from the session:
- Engine calculated and value-adding manual enrichment: When historical drivers are unreliable, manual intervention remains needed. However, as model forecasts improve, fewer manual adjustments are necessary. To redefine the demand planner's role, the focus should shift to strategic planning rather than just adjusting forecasts.
- Continuously increasing business value through adoption: Successful adoption goes beyond basic usage. It requires seamless integration of data, processes, system performance, and ongoing engagement with people to achieve sustainable results.
- AI-driven efficiency: Gen AI enhances operations by supporting simulations, KPI insights, and low-level process automation, driving data-driven decision-making and reducing manual effort. However, its true value is unlocked only when advanced models are already in place, with skilled professionals continuing to assess and guide outcomes.
A special thank you to participants from Beiersdorf, Diageo, FrieslandCampina, JDE Peet’s, Kraft Heinz, Nestlé, and Procter & Gamble for their valuable insights and contributions.
