OMP China celebrates ten years of partnership, progress, and planning excellence

OMP is celebrating its tenth anniversary in China. Since opening its first office in 2015, OMP China has grown from a small start-up presence into a diverse and globally connected team supporting customers across China and the broader APAC region. While OMP had already been delivering projects for leading supply chain organizations across this region, the establishment of a permanent base marked the beginning of a long-term commitment to customers and to developing local expertise.

 

The origin story

Jan Geuens, Partner at OMP, recalls exploratory visits nearly twenty years ago, when the potential for advanced planning in China was just beginning to unfold. “Those first trips laid the foundation for a lasting journey, as China has always been a strategic region for OMP,” Jan explains.

Yu Zhang, who joined OMP in 2013, was part of the group that shaped the first local setup. “There was no real office at the start, only a desk and a lot of teamwork,” she recalls. “With support from our European offices, we built a young and diverse team that is skilled, connected, and motivated to guide customers through every step of their planning journey.”

 

Evolving together with the market

As supply chains in China became more complex, OMP evolved alongside its customers, building long-term collaborations with organizations such as AstraZeneca, DaShengda, and Cheng Loong Corp. These partnerships laid the groundwork for broader growth across the region.

Over the past decade, OMP China has delivered projects for regional leaders including Kraft Heinz China, Bridgestone APAC, Tesa China, and Mars PetCare. In addition, global customers such as P&G, Johnson & Johnson, Nestlé, BASF, and Shell continue to maintain large user communities in China and APAC. “We sincerely appreciate the trust we receive and are proud to work with organizations that continue to raise the bar for planning excellence,” says Jie Wu, Country Lead China.

This growing customer base has been matched by the steady development of the OMP China team itself. Strong teamwork, close collaboration with global colleagues, and a clear focus on building expertise have enabled the team to expand in size, skill, and diversity, strengthening its ability to support customers across an increasingly dynamic market.

Today, OMP China supports customers across China and APAC, providing implementation, customer support, business development, and platform expertise. By combining local insight with global experience, the team serves all major industries OMP supports worldwide, including chemicals, consumer goods, life sciences, metals, paper, plastics and packaging, tires, and building materials.

As OMP China enters its second decade, its priority is to continue delivering high-quality service and innovative planning solutions that help organizations strengthen resilience, increase agility, and create long-term value. To achieve this, the focus remains on expanding capabilities, deepening partnerships, and investing in new talent.
